Steelers Hall of Famer Jerome Bettis Named Keynote Speaker at Georgia-Carolina Council Boys Scouts of America Event

AUGUSTA, GA. — Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back, Jerome Bettis, has been named the keynote speaker at the Georgia-Carolina Council Annual FOS Dinner where Bettis will be speaking on May 4, 2015 at a Friends of Scouting event. According to a media press release, the doors will open at 6:00pm; Dinner and Program starts at 6:45pm Seating is limited and available on a reservation or first come first serve basis. Bettis, nicknamed “The Bus,” is a former NFL halfback who played for the St. Louis Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers. He is sixth on the list of NFL rushing yards leaders. He retired in 2006 after the Steelers won Super Bowl X in Detroit, MI.. Asked about the possibility of retirement, Bettis announced, “It’s been an incredible ride. I played this game to win a championship. I’m a champion, and I think the Bus’s last stop is here in Detroit.” Thus, Jerome Bettis announced his retirement standing on the champions’ podium, holding the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Hines Ward, the MVP of the game, said during the Super Bowl commercial, “I’m going to Disney World and I’m taking The Bus!”

Bettis is currently the host of The Jerome Bettis Show on WPXI-TV, filmed at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, airing Saturdays at 7:00 PM and 1:00 AM. He is a commentator for the NFL Network and a former NBC studio analyst for Football Night in America. He was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2015 on Jan. 31, 2015.
