SPRINGFIELD, MA – Magic Johnson Enterprises, headed by Basketball Hall of Famer and CEO, Magic Johnson, is negotiating on a new sports-themed restaurant to be located in Springfield, MA. Negotiations are underway for the new restaurant according to business representatives with ties to the company. According to the Mass Live article, the location for the restaurant is directly across the street from the MGM Springfield $950 million casino project and the story has been confirmed by an unidentified source:
“The restaurant is being proposed at 1127 Main St., directly across the street from the $950 million MGM Springfield casino project. … An official with Magic Johnson Enterprises, who asked not to be identified, confirmed that negotiations are taking place to locate a sports-themed restaurant on the building’s ground floor.”
Earvin “Magic” Johnson is considered one of the all time greats who ever played basketball and is a former point guard for the LA Lakers. Magic led the Lakers to five NBA titles, was part of the Olympic Dream Team in 1992 and was inducted into the Basketball HOF in 2002. After being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in 1979, Johnson’s first season included a championship and a Finals MVP award. During his career he achieved five NBA championships and three Most Valuable Player Awards. In 1996 he was voted one of the 50 Greatest Players of All Time by the NBA, and in 2002, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame. ESPN’s Sports Century ranked Johnson #17 in their 50 Greatest Athletes of the 20th Century and in 2006, ESPN rated Johnson the greatest point guard of all time.
