ESPN NFL analyst and former Steelers running back Merril Hoge announced Michigan State running back Le’Veon Bell as Pittsburgh Steelers 2013 2nd round draft pick.

Hoge was drafted by the Steelers in the 10th round of the 1987 draft out of Idaho State. Hoge rushed for 3,115 yards and 21 touchdowns on 819 carries during his seven years with the Steelers. He also had 241 receptions for 2,054 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Each NFL team had a retired player announce one of the team’s draft selections. Among the other retired players participating included Deion Sanders (Atlanta), Wayne Chrebet (New York Jets), Warren Sapp (Tampa Bay) and Steve Gleason (New Orleans). Gleason’s participation provided the most poignant moment of the entire draft because he’s suffering from ALS.
