Ryne Sandberg is a former MLB second baseman who played for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1981 and the Chicago Cubs from 1982 to 1994 and again from 1996 to 1997. Sandberg is also a former a manager of the Philadelphia Phillies from 2013 to 2015. Sandberg is a ten-time All-Star from 1984 through 1993 plus he was the National League MVP in 1984 as well as the National League home run leader in 1990. Sandberg has earned numerous honors and awards. He is a nine-time Gold Glove Award winner for 1983 through 1991 plus he is a seven-time Silver Slugger Award winner for 1984, 1985 and 1988 through 1992. In 2005 Ryne Sandberg was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame and in the same year the Chicago Cubs retired his #23.
