Mookie Wilson is a former center fielder who primarily played all or part of twelve seasons for the New York Mets (1980–89) and Toronto Blue Jays (1989–91). He was also a coach for the Mets served as the first base coach from 1996-2002. Wilson was also a switch hitter who was known for his impressive speed and positive attitude. In 2003, he managed the Rookie League Kingsport Mets team, and in 2005, Wilson managed the single-A Brooklyn Cyclones. In 2011, Wilson returned to serve as the Mets’ first base coach. He was later replaced by Tom Goodwin.
