WASHINGTON, D.C. — Former Vikings quarterback and entrepreneur Fran Tarkenton will be the featured speaker during the Phoenix Award and Procurement breakfast awards ceremony on June 21 at 9 a.m. EDT during the Washington, D.C. portion of National Small Business Week. The morning event, held at the Renaissance Washington, D.C. hotel, will kick off a day of recognizing small business achievement. Later that day one business owner from a group representing all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam will be selected as the National Small Business Person of the Year. Fran Tarkenton is a Hall of Fame quarterback who played for the Minnesota Vikings from 1961-66, the New York Giants from 1967-71 and the Vikings again from 1972-78. He was named the NFL Offensive Player of the Year and MVP in 1975 and is a member of the Vikings Ring of Honor. He is the Vikings career passing yards leader and passing touchdown leader with 33,098 and 239, respectively. His jersey #10 is retired by the Vikings.
