Colin Kaepernick Throws Out Ceremonial First Pitch at 87 mph at the Marlins / Giants Game in San Francisco (VIDEO)

49er’s quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, donned a SF Giants uniform on Friday, June 21 at AT&T Park , when he threw out the first pitch in the Marlins / Giants game. Kaepernick, who threw out the ceremonial first pitch, wowed the crowd with an 87 mile-per-hour heater, so if this football gig doesn’t work out, maybe Kaepernick will join the San Franciso Giants.

You may not know this, but Kaepernick was a pitcher in high school and was a former late round draft pick of the Chicago Cubs. As a high school pitcher he hit a 92 mph fast ball and turned down multiple Division 1 baseball scholarships. He only had one fooball offer and that was with the Univesity of Las Vegas. No one else believed he would ever play football instead of baseball.

The 49ers had an incredible year in 2012. His throwing strenghth certainly benefited him last year when he threw a touchdown pass to Michael Crabtree last December in New England that was clocked at over 70 mph.
