Sugar Ray Leonard Booking Agent Details

One of the greatest boxers in American history, Sugar Ray Leonard learned boxing at the young age of 14 and enjoyed an impressive amateur career, which culminated in a gold medal at the 1976 Olympics. Prior to that, Leonard won three national Golden Gloves titles, the 1975 Pan-American Games title and two AAU championships. After the Olympics, Leonard turned professional and, in 1977, won his first pro fight. During his career, Leonard defeated a number of top boxers of his time, including Thomas “Hitman” Hearns, Roberto Duran, Wilfred Benetiz and Marvin Hagler, who Leonard beat to win the world middleweight title. During his 20 years of professional boxing from 1977-1997, Leonard became the first boxer in history to win titles in five weight classes – light heavyweight, welterweight, junior middleweight, middleweight and super middleweight. He is a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

Outside the ring, Leonard enjoyed a successful broadcast career working for ABC, HBO, NBC and ESPN. He has competed as a contestant on Dancing With the Stars, served as mentor and host for three seasons on ESPN and NBC’s Contender and appeared in the Paramount Pictures film The Fighter. Leonard has also been a popular pitchman, working with such companies as Ford, Carnation, 7-Up, Coca-Cola, Revlon, EA Sports, Nabisco and Vartec Telecom. Additionally, Leonard has been active in philanthropic causes, including working with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk for a Cure as its international chairman along with other children’s causes. In 2007, the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment Commission honored Leonard for his community service with the Ambassador Award of Excellence. In 2001, Leonard released his biography, THE BIG FIGHT: My Life In and Out of the Ring.
