Greg Maddux pitched in the majors from 1986-2008 with the Chicago Cubs (1986-1992, 2004-2006), Atlanta Braves (1993-2003), Los Angeles Dodgers (2006, 2008) and San Diego Padres (2007-2008). Maddux was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 2014. His illustrious career was heavily stacked with accolades as he was an eight-time All-Star (1988, 1992, 1994-1998, 2000) and won 18 Gold Gloves for his defense (1990-2002, 2004-2008). He is a member of the Braves Hall of Fame and both Atlanta and the Cubs have retired his #31 jersey.

Maddux was one of the most dominating pitchers of the 1990s as evidenced by his four consecutive Cy Young Awards that he won from 1992-1995. Along with Randy Johnson, Maddux is the only other player in MLB history to achieve that feat. During that time, Maddux never posted an ERA higher than 2.36 while his ERA of 1.56 in 1994 marked a career best. As a testament to his dominance and consistency, Maddux is the only player ever to win at least 15 games in 17 consecutive seasons. He currently ranks 8th all-time in MLB history in wins with 355.

In 1995, Maddux went 19-2 with a 1.63 ERA, striking out 181 batters while being a major contributor to the Braves’ squad that captured that year’s World Series and also featured fellow Hall of Famers John Smoltz and Tom Glavine. In the 12 seasons between 1989-2000, including his four straight wins, Maddux finished in the Top 5 in voting for the Cy Young Award nine times. After his playing days, Maddux served as a front office executive for the Cubs, Dodgers and Texas Rangers. He also coached at UNLV.
