Eric Dickerson is a former NFL running back who played from 1983-1993 with the Los Angeles Rams (1983-1987), Indianapolis Colts (1987-1991), Los Angeles Raiders (1992) and Atlanta Falcons (1993). Dickerson was an unstoppable force for much of the 1980s as he was named to six Pro Bowls (1983, 1984, 1986-1989) and earned five first-team All-Pro selections (1983, 1984, 1986-1988). He is currently ranked 9th all-time in NFL career rushing yards with 13,259, trailing only Emmitt Smith, Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, LaDainian Tomliinson, Curtis Martin, Frank Gore, Jerome Bettis and Adrian Peterson.

A 1999 inductee into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Dickerson’s 1,808 rushing yards as a rookie in 1983 remains an NFL record as does his single season mark of 2,105 yards that he posted in 1984. Both of those campaigns saw Dickerson lead the NFL in rushing and he did so again in 1986 (1,821 yards) and 1988 (1,659 yards). Dickerson was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Year three times (1983, 1984, 1986) and won NFL Offensive Player of the Year honors in 1986. He is a member of both the NFL’s 1980s All-Decade Team and 100th Anniversary Team. The Rams have retired his jersey #29 and he is also a member of the Colts Ring of Honor.

Dickerson was born on September 2, 1960 in Sealy, Texas. While playing college football at Southern Methodist University, Dickerson was named an All-American in 1982 behind a 1,617-yard rushing campaign and finished third in Heisman Trophy voting behind Georgia’s Herschel Walker and Stanford’s John Elway. He would go on to be selected by Los Angeles with the 2nd overall pick in the 1st round of the 1983 NFL Draft. After his playing career, Dickerson spent time working as a broadcast analyst for local NFL games on KCBS in Los Angeles and later for FS1.
