Andrew Whitworth is an NFL offensive tackle who has played for the Los Angeles Rams since 2017. Whitworth was a member of the Rams’ team who won Super Bowl LVI over the Cincinnati Bengals. At the age of 40, Whitworth became the oldest offensive lineman in league history to start a Super Bowl. Prior to the Rams, he previously, he spent 11 seasons from 2006-2016 with Cincinnati. Whitworth was twice named first-team All-Pro in 2015 and 2017. In 2012 and in three straight years from 2015-2017, he was also named to the Pro Bowl. For the 2018 season, Whitworth’s second in Los Angeles, he and his fellow Rams line mates were honored as the Built Ford Tough Offensive Line of the Year.
Whitworth had a notably successful career in college at LSU. In 2002 as a redshirt freshman, he started all 12 of the Tigers’ games and was named a Freshman All-American by both the Football Writers Association of America and The Sporting News. The next season, in 2003, Whitworth helped lead LSU to a 13-1 record and BCS National Championship over Oklahoma, as the Tigers finished the year ranked No. 1 overall in the Coaches Poll. For his junior and senior seasons in 2004 and 2005, Whitworth earned first-team All-SEC honors in back-to-back years before being drafted by Cincinnati with the 55th pick overall in the 2nd round of the 2006 NFL Draft. Off the gridiron, Whitworth has been active in the community. He donated a quarter million dollars to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, he was honored as the Walter Payton Man of the Year, one of the highest honors presented each year by the NFL to a player for his philanthropic work in the community.
