U.S gymnast Gabby Douglas has captured the women’s individual all around gold. She becomes the first African American to win the title and gives the United States its third consecutive gold in the all around. The 16-year old known as “The Flying Squirrel” scored 15.5 or higher in her first three rotations including an incredible 15.966 on her vault.
“I just wanted to seize the moment,” Douglas said. “It hasn’t sunk in yet. The team final hasn’t sunk yet. It will though. It will.”
