NFL Legend Jim Brown is Hired By Cleveland Browns as Special Advisor

NFL legend, Jim Brown, has reunited with the Cleveland Browns as a special advisor to the team. The formal announcement came on Wednesday, May 29, when Cleveland Browns’owner Jimmy Haslam announced Brown’s new position. Jim Brown is hired by the Cleveland Browns on May 29, 2013 as a special advisor.

Brown, 77, who is undeniably the greatest player in the teams franchise history, previously worked as a senior adviser under former team president Mike Holmgren. When the position was eliminated by Holmgren, Brown became estranged from the team.

It was just this past summer during an alumni golf outing,  where Brown met with Haslam, who had just bought the team from Randy Lerner. Brown expressed that he would love to be part of the team again.

“I am forever a Cleveland Brown,” he said.

Brown is still the team’s career rushing leader with 12,312 yards and 106 touchdowns. The NFL Hall of Famer played with the team from 1957-65, and led the team to their last title in 1964.

Haslam said that Brown as a figure is still widely respected by today’s players. “To have ’32’ back on our team … is tremendously important, and it goes a long way toward what we’re trying to accomplish.”
