After being named WNBA Rookie of the Year, Taurasi has become one of the most prolific talents in league history. She’s led the WNBA in scoring five times and is the league’s all-time leader in that category. The 2009 WNBA MVP, nine-time All-Star and 10-time first-team All-WNBA pick was named one of the league’s Top 15 Players of All-Time in 2011. Taurasi led Phoenix to WNBA titles in 2007, 2009, 2014 and was named Finals MVP the latter two years. In international play representing the United States, Taurasi’s career has been equally successful. She led the U.S. Women’s National Team to Olympic gold medals at the 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 Summer Games and also captured three gold medals at the 2010, 2014 and 2018 FIBA World Cup.

During the WNBA offseason, Taurasi has additionally played extensively overseas in Russia with UMMC Ekaterinburg (2012-2017), Spartak Moscow (2006-2010) and Dynamo Moscow (2005-2006.)  She also played in Turkey with Galatasaray Medical Park (2011-2012). In 2013, 2014 and 2017, Taurasi won the Russian Cup while in 2012 she captured a Turkish Cup. Born on June 11, 1982 in Glendale, California, Taurasi played college basketball at UConn under legendary head coach Geno Auriemma, where she won three consecutive NCAA Championships from 2002-2004 and each year was named Most Outstanding Player (MOP) of the tournament. For her play in 2003 and 2004, Taurasi was twice named Big East Player of the Year and twice was awarded the Naismith Award and Honda Sports Award as the nation’s best female college basketball player.
