Carlos Baerga played primarily second base in the majors for the Cleveland Indians (1990-1996, 1999), New York Mets (1996-1998), San Diego Padres (1999), Boston Red Sox (2002) Arizona Diamondbacks (2003-2004) and Washington Nationals (2005). He also played in Korea for the Samsung Lions in 2001. Baerga enjoyed most of his success with the Indians and was a three-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger Award winner. He’s a member of the Indians Hall of Fame.

Baerga was signed by the Padres in 1985 when he was 16 years old. He was traded to Cleveland in 1989 and made his MLB debut on April 14, 1990. Baerga recorded 200 or more hits in both 1992 and 1993 and became the first second baseman since Hall of Famer Rogers Hornsby to record consecutive seasons with at least 200 hits, 100 RBI, 20 homers and a .300 batting average. For his career, Baerga batted .292 with 1,543 hits and 134 home runs.
After retiring, Baerga went into sports broadcasting and enjoyed a successful career as an analyst for Monday Night Baseball on ESPN Dos and Baseball Tonight on ESPN Deportes and ESPN Latin America. In 2014, Baerga became the manager for the Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League’s Indios de Mayaguez in Puerto Rico.
