Jim McMahon played quarterback in the NFL from 1982-1996 with the Chicago Bears (1982-1988), San Diego Chargers (1989), Philadelphia Eagles (1990-1992), Minnesota Vikings (1993), Arizona Cardinals (1994) and Green Bay Packers (1995-1996). He was picked in the 1992 NFL Draft by the Bears in the 1st round. Best remembered as a colorful member of the legendary 1985 Bears that were coached by Mike Ditka, McMahon led Chicago to a championship that year, throwing 15 touchdowns and a career-high 2,392 yards through the air during the regular season as the Bears emerged victorious in Super Bowl XX, a game in which McMahon scored two rushing touchdowns. That year, McMahon was named to the Pro Bowl.

In 1982, he was given the Brian Piccolo Award by his Bears teammates and won the UPI NFC Rookie of the Year. In 1991, he was named the NFL Comeback Player of the Year by Pro Football Weekly as he threw for 2,239 yards that season, the second-best such number of his career. McMahon won a Super Bowl ring in 1996 backing up Brett Favre with Green Bay as the Packers defeated New England in the title game. A standout college football player at BYU, McMahon was a two-time All-American in 1980 and 1981, winning both the Sammy Baugh and Davey O’Brien awards in 1981. He became a member of the College Football Hall of Fame in 1998.
