Former football great, Michael Strahan&nbsp; just became the new co-host on &#8220;Live! With Kelly.&#8221; After going up against other hopefuls who competed for the coveted spot, Strahan was chosen as the one to permanently replace Regis Philbin, who left last November.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_8076\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8076\" style=\"width: 480px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8076\" title=\"kelly-ripa-michael-strahan\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sportsspeakers360.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/kelly-ripa-michael-strahan.webp\" width=\"480\" height=\"351\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-8076\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Michael Strahan becomes permanent co-host on &#8220;Live with Kelly and Michael.&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><!--more-->This morning the former New York Giant jogged onto the morning show set and picked up co-host Kelly Ripa in a bear hug, lifting her off her feet. He scored extra points when he gave Ripa a dozen red roses which drew &#8220;ahhhs&#8221; from the women in the studio audience.<\/p>\n<div class=\"video\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/widget.newsinc.com\/single.html?WID=2&amp;VID=23795944&amp;freewheel=69016&amp;sitesection=csmonitor\" scrolling=\"no\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" width=\"480\" height=\"350\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s so nice to have a co-host literally sweep you off your feet,&#8221; Ripa said, &#8220;and I know that he can bench press me if he wanted to.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Before bringing Strahan out, Ripa joked about the lengthy search, advising people to stop sending her resumes. &#8220;I have enjoyed every single solitary person except for one,&#8221; she said. &#8220;The staff is laughing because they know that&#8217;s true.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Philbin was the original &#8220;Live!&#8221; host for more than 28 years, with Ripa joining him in 2001.
