BINGHAMTON, N.Y. —  Olympic Gold medalist and former University of Arizona and Team USA softball pitcher, Jennie Finch<\/a>, spoke Monday afternoon, February 3, at Binghamton University\u2019s Celebrating Women\u2019s Athletics Luncheon, an annual affair held at the Events Center to recognize the achievements of the school\u2019s female student-athletes. Former University of Arizona and Team USA softball pitcher Jennie Finch signed autographs after speaking at the CWA Luncheon on Monday, Feb 3, 2014. <\/p>\n

\u201cMy message is to be the best you. Life\u2019s short. Make the most of the opportunities that you have,\u201d Finch told the media. \u201cIt\u2019s amazing to see how far we have come as women, in sports especially. Just seeing the changes that it has allowed me to make and just knowing the impact athletics plays, especially in our young women\u2019s lives, is so important.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since the first annual CWA Luncheon, the event has raised nearly $150,000 toward a scholarship fund, awarded to two female BU student-athletes each year.<\/p>\n

\n\u201cNow I\u2019m a mother of three and speaking, doing camps and clinics and traveling around,\u201d Finch said. \u201cBeing a mom is my ultimate favorite thing of all, but it\u2019s always great to be around athletics because it\u2019s who I am and has given me so much.\u201d<\/p>\n

Finch, who helped lead Team USA to the gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics and a silver medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics, is also a devout Christian who speaks openly about her faith in God.
