After 19 seasons in the NBA, Shaquille O’Neal announced via Twitter that he is retiring.
“We did it. 19 years baby. I want to thank you very much,” O’Neal said in a video posted on his Twitter account. “That’s why I’m telling you first. I’m about to retire. Love you. Talk to you soon.”
O’Neal won three NBA titles with the Los Angeles Lakers and one with the Miami Heat. He also played for the Phoenix Suns, Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics.

St. John’s basketball coach, Steve Lavin, said in a statement today that he has prostate cancer. Lavin is 46 years old.
The former UCLA Bruins coach announced Friday that he was diagnosed in September with prostate cancer but was told he could delay treatment until after the season. He plans to undergo treatment soon and says it will not affect his coaching. (more…)
