Ryan Lochte enjoyed a highly decorated swimming career and won a total of 90 medals in various international competitions, including over 50 gold medals. He competed in four Olympics and took home 12 medals - six gold, three silver & three bronze. His Olympic medals total ranks second all-time to Michael Phelps among American male swimmers and ties him with Jenny Thompson, Dara Torres and Natalie Coughlin among all American swimmers. Likewise, his seven individual medals trails only Phelps. Lochte set four world records over the course of his career, including the 200-meter individual medley.

Lochte’s first Olympics was in 2004 in Athens, where he earned two medals, including a gold in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, he won four medals, including two gold in the 200-meter backstroke and 4x200-meter freestyle relay. In 2012, Lochte turned in his most dominant Olympic performance in London, as he captured a total of five medals, including two gold in the 400-meter individual medley and 4x200-meter freestyle relay. His final Olympic medal came Ri de Janeiro in 2016 when he won gold in the 4x200-meter freestyle relay. Lochte also enjoyed great success competing at the FINA World Championships from 2004-2015, winning a total of 62 medals (36 gold, 15 silver & 11 bronze).

Over the course of his career, Lochte received numerous honors, including three times being named FINA Swimmer of the Year. He also was the recipient of the 2013 Swammy Award and was named American Swimmer of the Year Award (twice) and World Swimmer of the year. Lochte was a popular figure away from the pool, endorsing such companies as Speedo, Gillette, Mutual of Omaha, P&G, Ralph Lauren, Gatorade and AT&T. He also made cameo appearances on “30 Rock” and “90210” and competed on “Dancing With the Stars”, “Celebrity Big Brother” and “Celebrity Family Feud”. Lochte was born on August 3, 1984 and competed collegiately at the University of Florida, where he was seven times crowned an NCAA champion and 24 times named an All-American. He was also twice named the NCAA Swimmer of the Year.
