Prince Amukamara is an NFL cornerback who was a 1st round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Amukamara played for the New York Giants (2011-2015), Jacksonville Jaguars (2016) and Chicago Bears (2017-2019.) Amukamara played in seven regular season games with the Giants as a rookie and contributed to New York’s championship run, where in Super Bowl XLVI the Giants triumphed over the heavily-favored New England Patriots, 21-17.
Amukamara in 2013 became one of New York’s starting cornerbacks. He started all 16 regular season games for the Giants and posted a career-high 85 tackles and two forced fumbles. His 14 passes defended also was a career-best. The next season, Amukamara built on his coverage skills, recording three interceptions, which was a career-high as well. The 2013-2015 seasons saw him deflect at least 10 passes in three consecutive seasons.
Amukamara played college football at Nebraska, where he was a two-time First-Team All-Big 12 selection in 2009 and 2010. As a senior in 2010, Amukamara earned unanimous All-American honors and was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. After joining the Bears in 2017, Amukamara participated in the team’s Home Team Hand-Off initiative, in which players purchase game tickets and donate them to a charity of their choosing. A devout Christian, Amukamara has often spoken about his refraining from alcohol and staying celibate until marriage.
