While with Houston, Berkman joined future Hall of Fame teammates Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell as part of the “Killer B’s”. He had a near identical campaign later in 2006, setting career-bests in home runs (45) and RBI (136), while again finishing third in A.L. MVP voting.

Berkman joined St. Louis in 2011 and was integral in helping the team and manager Tony LaRussa to a World Series title. For the season, he hit .301 with 31 home runs and 94 RBI, winning N.L. Comeback Player of the Year honors in the process. During the Fall Classic against the Texas Rangers, he hit a key RBI single in Game 6 with the Cardinals down to their last out, extending the series to a full seven games, which St. Louis went on to win. Berkman is well-known for his work in the community. In 2012, he was named by Forbes as one of the year’s “30 most generous celebrities.” He founded his own charitable organization, To The Lord’s Fund, and gave over $2 million to the foundation.
