Harry Carson is former NFL linebacker who played his entire career with the New York Giants from 1976-1988. Born on November 26, 1953 in Florence, South Carolina, Carson played collegiately at South Carolina State from 1972-1975, never missing a game in four years. He was the first player from the Mid-Eastern Conference to earn Defensive Player of the Year honors and was a fourth round draft pick by New York in 1976. He won a Super Bowl ring in 1986 with the Giants in their 39-20 defeat of the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXI. Carson was a nine-time Pro Bowler, including seven straight selections from 1981-1987, and served as the Giants’ captain for 10 years while leading the team five times in tackles.

Carson is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame, which he was inducted into in 2002, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame, class of 2006. He is also a member of the Giants Ring of Honor, which the team unveiled in 2010. In total for his career over 173 games, Carson recorded 19 quarterback sacks and 11 interceptions. After his playing days, Carson became a broadcaster, lecturer and motivational speaker, and was a part-owner of the New Jersey Red Dogs of the Arena Football League.
